DIGICEL BRINGS THE FUN AND EXCITEMENT OF CRICKET TO THE CARIBBEAN

- Digicel Cricket Experience returns for Digicel Series 2009

Monday, February 2 - Kingston, Jamaica:  Once again, Digicel brings the fun and excitement of cricket directly to the Caribbean people with the Digicel Caribbean Experience.  With interactive Cricket games and activities, Digicel Cricket Experience was created to bring the excitement of Cricket to more persons throughout the Region. 

Digicel Group Sponsorship Manager, Ciara Ryan, explains: “The Cricket Experience worked very well last year and people came out in their numbers across the Region to support and take part.  This year we will be bringing the Digicel Cricket Experience to an increased number of locations and additionally fans who attend the games on match days will also be able to partake in the fun.

“We will once again invite our West Indies players to join in the fun and interact with the public and Cricket Legend Lance Gibbs, will again participate in the activities. The Players attendance enhances the Experience as the participants can match their skills with the players.   We are aware that not everyone can attend the matches but with the Digicel Cricket Experience, more persons get a chance to partake in the fun and excitement of Cricket.”

Digicel Cricket Experience consists of five games:

1.       Catch Him! – Catching Practice with ball machine

2.       Fast or Foolish? – 2 chances to bowl at 3 stumps from 22 yards.  Speed recorded if wicket is hit

3.       Lick it fi Six – Batting practice with ball machine

4.       Run him Out - 3 chances to bowl at 1 stump from 3 distances. Speed recorded if wicket is hit

5.       What is the Answer – Trivia competition for teams and individuals.  Test your knowledge of Windies cricket history.

Prizes for game winners include pocket radios, key rings, credit and match tickets.

This year, Digicel brings the Digicel Cricket Experience (DCE) to the six host countries of the Digicel Series 2009 – West Indies vs. England: Jamaica, Antigua, Barbados, Trinidad, Guyana and St. Lucia.  The DCE takes place in town centres a few days before each Digicel Test, Digicel Twenty/20 and Digicel ODI.  The DCE also makes an appearance at the stadiums during matches providing patrons with fun activities during breaks.
