Digicel, Guyana’s leading mobile communications operator, has launched its highly anticipated Christmas promotion. This year’s exciting new promotion dubbed “Digicel’s Christmas Magic Numbers”, gives customers a chance to win millions of dollars in cash along with the new trendy BlackBerry 9800 (BlackBerry Torch).

Christmas Magic Numbers was launched at a Wine and Cheese Cocktail at the Georgetown Club where the media and special invitees got a chance to experience the fantastic promotion first hand. During the launch, Digicel Head of Marketing, Jacqueline James explained how the promotion runs.

“Participating is very simple. All you have to do is top up with $500 and you will receive a text message with your Magic Number. You then have to tune into NCN every Sunday at 19:30 hrs to see if your number will be selected to be one of seven winners,” James said.

During the Christmas Magic Numbers draw which will be hosted by Miss Guyana Universe, Tamika Henry, the first four numbers to be drawn will win the Torch, while the last three numbers drawn will win one million dollars each.

Meanwhile, Digicel officially introduced the BlackBerry Torch to the Guyana market at the Christmas Magic Numbers launch. The new BlackBerry Torch features a large touch screen and optical trackpad with a backlit slide-out BlackBerry keyboard. It supports the latest generation in Wi-Fi® (b/g/n) connectivity and its 5 MP camera takes exceptional pictures with continuous auto focus, image stabilization, scene modes and zoom, and it also supports video recording. In addition, it comes with a combined 8 GB of media storage out-of-the-box, and includes a microSD/SDHD memory card slot for up to 36 GB of total storage memory.

The browser includes tabs for accessing multiple sites simultaneously, pinch to zoom, and an auto-wrap text zoom feature that can intelligently wrap text in a column while maintaining the placement of a page's key elements (simply by double-tapping on the BlackBerry Torch).
