Friday, July 16, 2010 – Georgetown, Guyana: Digicel, Guyana’s leading mobile communications provider has partnered with Hits and Jams for Guyana’s biggest summer event, JamZone. This highly anticipated event includes three super concerts and a regional pageant.
International R&B/Pop artiste and Grammy Award Winner, NeYo is set to perform on the International night slated for August 22 at the Guyana National Stadium. NeYo’s performance is expected to be nothing short of spectacular. Having performed all over the world, three of the singer’s four albums have received Gold, Platinum and Silver certifications in both the United States and the United Kingdom making him one of the most celebrated male R&B artistes of the decade. In September of this year, Neyo will release his fourth album entitled ‘Libra Scale’ which is expected to include several chart-topping singles and maybe even several award nominations.
The Jamzone Regional Night will be headlined by one of the biggest Jamaican Dancehall artistes, Movado. David Constantine Brooks who is known to the world as Mavado or more recently “The Gully God”, the singer behind the eerie wails of “Anywayyy!” and “Gangsta for life!” has safely secured himself as one of the most consistent artistes while dominating the airwaves with his mind-blowing tracks.
Chutney fans will not be excluded from this mega event as over a dozen chutney artistes will take to stage on August 15. This lineup includes Hit Man and Hunter and they are all very excited about this concert which starts off the three super concerts.
Meanwhile, as plans proceed for the Jamzone Summer Break 2010 events, the delegates in this year’s Miss Jamzone International 2010 pageant are anxiously making preparations for this premier pageant set for August 22 at Splashmins. Contestants were drawn from eight Caribbean territories including Trinidad and Tobago, Antigua, Suriname, the Dominican Republic, Barbados, St. Lucia, Jamaica and Guyana.
